The 'holy grail' of wild bettas — large, spectacularly colored with vivid orange-red and black patterns. Males are paternal mouthbrooders with enormous mouths. Extremely rare and expensive.

Care Notes

Requires cool, very soft acidic water with excellent filtration. Extremely sensitive to water quality changes. Species tank strongly recommended. Very expensive — typically $100–300 per pair.

Feeding

Live and frozen foods: crickets, bloodworms, brine shrimp, and small insects. Rarely accepts pellets.
